Back breaker

When someone tells you that “I got your back” what is your initial reaction?  Relieved or Thankful?  Many people have experienced it in school or in the office, when a project that your group is working on fails… People tend to point fingers at the person who they think would not be able to help them in the future.  Are you one of the few people who does the dirty work or are you the one who hogs the spotlight when things are ok?  Be careful of these so called Back Breakers:

Back breaker

The Ninja – The quiet type, he will listen to your ideas and encourage you.  But deep down inside he has his own plans of improving it and calling it his own.  A few minor edits and it’s an original idea, he might even be the first to announce it thru social networking sites and you’ll be known as the copycat.

The Mirror – He will follow your every move, copy what others are doing but his pride prevents him from admitting that he followed your style.  When things go wrong his favorite excuse is… “I’m just following what the others did!”

The Follower -  This guy will encourage you , he will smile and follow your orders .  But be very careful because you don’t have his loyalty, and when your idea is criticized by the boss he will instantly blame you!  “I’m just following his orders!” -Are just one of the few excuses that you’ll hear from someone like him in the meeting.  Imagine if  he’s talking behind your back!

The Doubter – He will not do the dirty work, he might even discourage you with your project because he is doubting your skills.  He only believes in himself and all of you are 2nd rate, but if you succeed he will instantly join the bandwagon and support you.  He might even do some credit grabbing like being part of the winning team!

Back breaker

The Charmer – When things go well this guy will steal the spotlight, he’s an A-list credit grabber.  The most dangerous of its kind, You’ll be surprised that things are all in his favor because he can charm his way to the top.  But when things don’t work out, it’s everyone’s fault except his!

Back breaker

Are you a credit grabber in the office or are you the guy who does the dirty work?  Let’s not point fingers.  Just be careful and always watch your back!
